In the Beginning...
The tournaments were started by Harvey (the Rabbit) Lapp and Tom ("Tommy D.") Midzinski, both originally from the Buffalo, NY area.
There was no Spring Session during the innaugural year. The first tournament was held in March and counted toward the Summer Session.
Tournaments were originally held at  Moon Doggies (Decatur near Desert Inn), then moved shortly thereafter to Money Plays (Flamingo near Decatur). By Fall of 2006, with more players joining us, we moved once again to Grillo's (across the street from Money Plays).
2007: With the sudden closure of Grillo's in January, we happened upon a venue that would fill the bill for quite some time; MVP's (Tropicana near Jones). The bar formerly known as Time Inn had just opened under new management.
In 2006 & 2007, all players were automatically ranked. There was no membership. The scoring was different; first place was worth 3 points, 2nd was 2 and 3rd place got 1 point. Nothing below third place counted until the LVEA was formed in '08.

2009: The year was dominated by Bob Cuffia. Always the strong player, he easily took two sessions and the overall championship. By this time, Euchre was being played at MVP's on Thursdays (which counted toward points), Wednesdays at Jackson's (W. Flamingo & Jones)  and for a while on Mondays at the Cavalier (E. Desert Inn & Sandhill).
2010: In 2010, Dawn Ralston began keeping stats/treasury for the LVEA and all tournaments counted toward ranking points; Wednesdays at Jackson's and Thursdays at MVP's biweekly. Mike Reese scored a record 76 points under the new system and won the championship tournament amoungst the top 8 finishers on Dec. 15.
Points were scored as follows; 5 points to first place, 4 to second, 3 to third, 2 to fourth and 1 to fifth. This became the standard method, but only Thursdays counted in 2009. The Wednesday games were partners tournaments for most of the season and the Monday games on the east side were progressive 8X8 games.
